City tax
The Municipality of Vernazza has approved from 2015 the institution of the tourist tax. This tax is effective from 2015, is in force throughout the year and consists of the payment of euro 2,00 per night per person for the first three (3) days of stay.
Children under the age of 11, guides and drivers of groups staying in the municipality are exempt from paying.
It is a purpose tax and the proceeds will be fully invested by the municipal administration in local projects. Recovery of uncultivated lands, inter-provincial roads and reconstruction of dry stone walls will be financed.
Arriving by train
Vernazza is located along the railway line Genoa-La Spezia-Pisa-Livorno-Rome.
To reach it you can arrive by Intercity trains to Levanto or La Spezia and then continue with local trains, whose travels, except for the night hours , they are very frequent, especially in summer.
During the summer, there is also a convenient shuttle service organized by the Cinque Terre Park Authority that connects Sarzana to Levanto, stopping in all areas of the area.

Arriving by car
To reach Vernazza, take the panoramic Litoranea delle Cinque Terre (SS370), which connects Monterosso to Riomaggiore and runs for the most part at a height of about 400 meters above sea level. A somewhat winding road, but offering breathtaking views.
Once you have reached this stretch, pay attention because there are no petrol stations in the Cinque Terre area. The nearest distributors are in Levanto and La Spezia.

Exit at the toll booth of Carrodano of Livorno / Genova A12 to descend from a height of about 400 meters to Levanto. At Levanto you climb up to the Colle di Gritta where the junction for Monterosso is located. The junction for Vernazza meets shortly after the Sanctuary of NS di Soviore.
From this junction, the scenic winding road, although in good condition and well marked, is very narrow, so pay close attention to any vehicles coming in the opposite direction. The travel time is about 45 minutes.

from ROMA via Grosseto: Roma SS1 - Livorno / Genova A12
The S.Stefano Magra exit of Livorno / Genoa A12 or Parma A15 - La Spezia, is connected to La Spezia by a stretch of fast-speed highway. Arrived in the city, follow the signs for the Cinque Terre.
Follow the promenade and passed the Military Arsenal take the Litoranea delle Cinque Terre (SS370). The junction for Vernazza meets a few kilometers after the town of Volastra.
At this point the road narrows a lot and almost falls precipitously towards the sea. Also in this case it is good to pay the maximum attention to vehicles coming in the opposite direction. The journey time, from the toll booth, is about 45 minutes.
